Fleur-de-lis home decor: more than just indoors

Posted on March 06, 2013 | 0 comments

Fleur de lis home decorWe may groan at the inconvenience of losing an hour of sleep when we "spring forward" to Daylight Savings Time -- not to mention resetting all of the clocks! -- but we certainly start to realize the benefits once our grumpiness wears off!

Having extra daylight when we come home from work, or on the weekends, is always an appreciated treat.  Watching the kids play ball, working in the yard, laughing with friends around our fleur-de-lis firepit, all make Spring a special time of year.

And fleur-de-lis home decor is more than just table decor, serveware and glassware.  It's about outdoor decor, too!  House and garden flags, fleur-de-lis pot covers, planters and vases all add a unique flavor to our home's curb appeal.

Ready to roll up your sleeves and get to work? There are numerous home and garden events on the calendar during the month of March to help you get started with free plant and gardening information, soil testing, garden tours and so much more.  We found a handy resource for regional gardening events at the Louisiana Gardener website.  Each weekend this month is packed with activities in Baton Rouge, Covington, New Orleans, St. Francisville, Mobile, Shreveport and many more locations throughout the Gulf South.

Sure, you'll lose an hour of sleep one weekend -- but gain some fun in the sun!

Mardi Gras polos: a New Orleans original

Posted on January 10, 2013 | 0 comments

Mardi Gras striped poloMardi Gras polo shirts are a Carnival icon and a true New Orleans original. Now seen at Mardi Gras celebrations worldwide, the familiar purple, green and gold striped polo is a timeless reminder of good times.

A year-round favorite of some of the largest krewes in New Orleans, it is perfect for load-in day when stocking the parade float with beads – or for those summer time krewe parties! And for chilly weather, pick your favorite solid color long sleeve tee to layer under this famous Mardi Gras shirt. And women love the comfortable unisex fit.

The Mardi Gras striped polo shirt is a favorite for Louisiana themed corporate events and conventions, too. Joyce in Vacherie, Louisiana ordered shirts for members of the Louisiana State Catholic Daughters attending their 54th Biennial National Convention in Omaha last year... representing our great state in fine fashion in their distinctive Mardi Gras polos! (See a photo on our Facebook page.)

This versatile shirt has been purchased in large quantities by Mardi Gras krewes, Gulf Coast casinos and national conventions and has never disappointed. The distinctive Mardi Gras horizontal stripes of purple, green and gold stay vibrant and true wash after wash.

The quintessential Mardi Gras polo. A true Carnival essential!

The search for artisan fleur-de-lis jewelry

Posted on January 08, 2013 | 0 comments

Fleur-de-Lis JewelryWe love to find new jewelry artists that create fashionable works of art. Especially when it features the popular fleur-de-lis icon.

Sometimes we find them at small-town Louisiana festivals, drenched from the heat and humidity, selling their precious handcrafted wares from under a breezeless canopy. Or, in a small kiosk nestled within a courtyard in New Orleans. Sometimes they contact us.

How ever we find them, it is a rare and true pleasure.

One of our favorite artisan fleur-de-lis jewelry finds is the Sterling Silver Classic Fleur-de-Lis Necklace The traditional fleur-de-lis pendant is intricately handcrafted in .925 Sterling Silver and includes a 17" black suede leather cord. It is wonderfully handcrafted jewelry designed by one of those brilliant artists we found right here in Louisiana. This gorgeous necklace is only $21.99.

Discovering that hardworking, talented fleur-de-lis jewelry artist and sharing them with you is our privilege.

Is there a fleur-de-lis wedding in your future?

Posted on August 22, 2012 | 0 comments
A wedding with a fleur-de-lis motif is more than a New Orleans – or even a southern-based -- tradition. For many years, brides from around the world have chosen this regal and historic symbol as the visual theme for their Big Day, and its popularity is far from waning.

An elegant way to highlight this timeless icon for your wedding is with a gorgeous fleur de lis champagne flute.  Imagine lifting a toast with this beautiful champagne glass (shown right) featuring the look of mother-of-pearl and with a dazzling rhinestone-studded Fleur-de-Lis on the stem. This flute has a substantial feel and stands all of 9 ½” tall.

“These Champagne glasses are absolutely stunning!"  Tammy in Louisiana used these flutes during her big event and was thoroughly charmed. "We were complimented over and over at our reception while we walked around with our champagne glasses in hand.”

You will find the Regal Fleur-de-Lis Champagne Glass in the Fleur-de-Lis Gift shop of the Louisiana Online Mall.

Another beautiful keepsake for your wedding that can be cherished forever is the impressive stainless steel Fleur-de-Lis Cake Knife and Server Set. Of course, the fleur-de-lis on each is embellished with sparkling rhinestones.

Jackie in New Orleans ordered the set for her daughter’s wedding back in 2009.

"Such a beautiful addition to help make my daughter's wedding theme complete," she says. "I stumbled upon this product with just a general search. All I can say is that if you love fleur de lis this is worth every penny and more. The beautiful detail just cannot be compared. I wanted to have the set engraved, but it is just too elegant to add anything to it. I am very pleased and would highly recommend this product to anyone for that special occasion. I could not have been more pleased.”

You will find the Fleur-de-Lis Cake Knife and Server set here.

Cheers! To your fleur-de-lis wedding!
